Rainer Maria Woelki is a German theologian, a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and, since 2014, Archbishop of Cologne and Metropolitan of the associated ecclesiastical province. In connection with the investigation of cases of ***ual abuse in the Archdiocese of Cologne, a crisis of confidence arose in the archdiocese after 2018 as a result of mistakes made by Woelki.
